Hip to Gable Loft Conversion

The hip to gable loft conversion involves making fairly major changes to the roof, as the existing pitched roof hip is replaced by a new vertical gable wall, usually at the side of the building. The new gable wall will be built either in masonry or studwork, there are several options for the finishing of the masonary gable wall, which include, brickwork, blockwork with render or tiled, most people prefer for the new gable wall to match the existing walls as much as possible.

Changing a hip to a gable roof will make converting your roof space into a habitable loft feasible as hip roofs tend to not have enough internal volume for a conversion to be practical so this is the best solution.
